Travel with us to Empire Mine State Historic Park, one of California’s oldest and most productive gold mines, in operation for over a century before closing in the 1950s.

Enjoy a docent-led visit through the Mine Yard, the Empire Cottage, and its beautiful gardens, with easy, mostly level walking paths and plenty of shaded seating along the way.

After exploring the grounds, we’ll head into Grass Valley for lunch at Tofanelli’s Gold Country Bistro, followed by time to stroll the charming downtown shops before returning to the Gibbons Center.
