Explanation of Trip: We will visit the historic Mare Island Chapel, and large museum. This will entail either a 1.5 hour slow walk and standing to hear our guided tour leader tell us about the rich history of the ship building town OR visit just the museum and dry docks, depending on riders personal choice.

Information about Mare Island Museum: The Museum is the oldest building on the shipyard and was originally the "smithery" where they made the metal parts to construct the ships being built or repaired here on the yard and was in use from the day it opened in 1855 until the shipyard closed in 1996. Now, it houses a treasure trove of artifacts and information about the shipyard and the role she played in American history.
