Introduction to Fly Fishing Presented By California Fly Fishers Unlimited!

Curious about fly fishing but not sure where to start? This two-day introductory class will teach you the basics and give you the hands-on skills you need to get started!

Thursday, October 22, 2026
Learn the fundamentals of fly fishing in a 2-hour classroom session. Participants will learn how to assemble a fly rod, attach a leader to a fly line, tie commonly used knots, and learn about essential gear, safety, flies, and more.

Friday, October 23, 2026
Take your skills outdoors during a 2-hour hands-on session on the grass behind Gibbons Community Center. Learn the basics of fly casting, including some of the most commonly used casts.

No experience necessary! Participants are encouraged to bring their own fly fishing rod, reel, and line if they have them.
