Explanation of Trip: We will travel to Bridgeport in Nevada County. This is a very picturesque place with scenic views as we walk the trail above and along the South Fork of the Yuba River, especially with the river running at high capacity. This is home to a rustic and recently restored covered bridge. This was one of the only ways to get across the river. The toll was for each head of cattle, the horse, and the rider. This is also home to a turn of the century farm. We will learn about some of the local inhabitants, the Kneebone Family. We will pick up lunch to then have our picnic lunch along the river. Wear good walking shoes.
Trip leaves from: Mission Oaks Community Center 4701 Gibbons Drive Carmichael, CA 95608
