LEGO® Robotics: Game Bots

Program info:

A trip to a carnival is always fun! A game of ring toss, a go-kart ride, duck hunt or just dancing! Who wouldn’t want it? Come join us to build LEGO models that mimic carnival games and have some fun while learning all about robots, programming, sensors, and engineering concepts like rack and pinion, pulley and wheels, gears, cams etc. Children also learn to program the models using a colorful drag-and-drop interface to make them move and interact with the environment.

LEGO® Robotics: Motor Madness

Dates: June 24th-June 28th, 2024

Times: 9 am-12 pm

Location: Swanston Community Center (2350 Northrop Ave, Sacramento)

Fee: $195 per class

Program info: 

Calling all car lovers out there! During this session, children will build a new kind of car each week and learn the concepts surrounding it. For example, one week might focus on a power car where children try different gear combinations and another week might focus on building a car with sails and learning all about wind resistance and its effect on speed. Some models will focus on programming too.

LEGO® Minecraft Animation

Dates: June 24th-June 28th, 2024

Times: 1 pm-4 pm

Location: Swanston Community Center (2350 Northrop Ave, Sacramento)

Program info: 

Lego® Minecraft class is an exciting and educational experience into the world of stop-motion animation. Using Lego® building sets based on the Minecraft theme, students will stage their own scenes from a storyboard and take photos of the scene to tell a story. Then they will edit the images in the Frames 6 animation software where they will add effects, sound, and more. Finally, they will export their project to a video file that they can take home on a USB drive.

Dates: July 22nd -July 26th, 2024

Times: 9 am-12 pm

Location: Acton Placer Campus (1150 Eastern Avenue, Sacramento)

Fee: $195 per class

Program info: 

Take a journey out of this world with LEGO Robotics! In this IntelliBricks class, we will be using LEGO bricks, WeDo 2.0 electronics, and simple coding to recreate some of the wonders of the galaxy like aliens, satellites, moonwalkers, and flying saucers!

Game Design with SCRATCH

Dates: July 22nd -July 26th, 2024

Times: 1 pm-4 pm

Location: Acton Placer Campus (1150 Eastern Avenue, Sacramento)

Fee: $230 per class

Program info: 

Game design with SCRATCH is coming back again after popular demand with all new games! It’s fun to play video games, it's even more fun to design your own game! Students will not only learn the characteristics of a good game like speed, obstacles, scoring, visual appeal, and sound effects, they will also learn the basics of coding like variables, if-then statements, logic, loops, etc. To add to this students will learn to create cool characters (sprites) for their game and build the backdrop for the games they create.

(Please note: Laptops will be provided for each student. A pen drive with all their projects will be given as a takeaway for each student at the end of the course )
