Hiking 101 for Teens

Tired of being stuck in the house? The new Mission Oaks Hiking 101 for Teens  is a great way to get learn the ins and outs of hiking. This program is made for our beginning to intermediate level teen hikers, focused more on getting outside and moving.  We'll take your through all the different things you need to get started hiking. We cover topics such Maps, Footwear, Clothing, First Aid, The 7 Principles of Leave No Trace and much more!

The class will consist of three days. The first two days will be at Swanston Community Center, where we will take you through the basic prep, gears and steps to getting out on a hike. The final day will be a hike located along beautiful Folsom Lake, where you will be able to take what you have learned and apply it.

  • $10 

Where:

  • First Two Classes will take place at Swanston Community Center: 2350 Northrop Ave, Sacramento, CA 95825
  • The final class will be at Folsom Lake, more meeting spot details will be given out during the first two classes. 

When:

  • Class 1: May13th
  • Class 2: May 2oth 
  • Class3 (Hike) May 22nd

Who:

  • Anyone aged 13 to 17
