Draw your route by clicking on the map to plot the different points.
You can select the type of 'points' with the DRAW IT toolbar in the upper-right hand corner of your screen if you want to indicate the location of water, bathrooms, etc.
You can change the type of marker or insert points by clicking on the marker image or the grey-button that shows at each point.
